Vice-President Kashim Shettima and Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, have called for prayers for national stability and good governance.
The calls were made during the 6th Maolud Nabiyy Celebration of the Jam’iyyat Ansariddeen (Attijaniyya) held at the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos Island.
Both leaders emphasized the importance of collective prayer, urging citizens to focus on a shared vision of peace, tolerance, and prosperity for Nigeria.
Shettima underscores President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to protecting citizens’ rights and freedoms, emphasizing the need for all Nigerians to practice their religions without fear or discrimination.
He encouraged a nationwide spirit of brotherhood and sisterhood, highlighting the government’s dedication to citizens’ well-being.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, represented by Deputy Dr. Kadri Hamzat, also called for peace, emphasizing that a harmonious environment is essential for political, social, and economic development.
He prayed for the leaders’ health, wisdom, and guidance in steering the country in the right direction.
Commending the Jam’iyyat Ansariddeen Attijaniyya for their support, Shettima recognized their efforts in promoting peaceful coexistence among religious communities. Governor Sanwo-Olu expresses gratitude for the organization’s role in fostering unity.
President-General Khalifa Sanusi II, in his welcome remarks, sheds light on the Maolud celebration’s significance, where members recite the Quran 4,444 times to pray for national stability and the protection of all Nigerians, irrespective of religion, race, or ethnicity.
Sanusi urged politicians, business leaders, religious scholars, and citizens to unite for the collective goal of ‘Project Nigeria,’ emphasizing the need to bridge divisions and rebuild the nation.
Addressing the challenging times during President Tinubu’s leadership, Sanusi called for national solidarity, urging Nigerians to set aside politics and actively engage in governance to propel the country forward.
Expressing gratitude to the federal government and Lagos State for their support, Sanusi assured continued prayers and support from the organization for leaders, envisioning a Nigeria moving towards a brighter future through thoughtful policies and initiatives.
