In a bid to instill a spirit of heroism and foster essential life-saving skills among the youth, His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, presided over the inaugural ‘Rescue Heroes Challenge’ at the General Department of Transport and Rescue.
The event, graced by high-ranking officials including H.E Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi and H.E Major General Saeed Hamad bin Suleiman, marks a pioneering initiative by the Dubai Police to engage school students in a dynamic and competitive environment focused on rescue operations.
The two-day challenge aims to not only enhance the communication and collaboration skills of the participants but also identify and nurture potential talents who could become the backbone of future volunteer rescue teams.
On the initial day of the challenge, 25 enthusiastic participants formed five teams, immersing themselves in a series of physically demanding and intellectually stimulating tasks, all vying for the coveted ‘Rescue Heroes’ title.
Lt. Gen. Al Marri underscored Dubai Police’s commitment to organizing events that blend sports, community engagement, and cultural enrichment, emphasizing the vital role such initiatives play in strengthening the bond between law enforcement agencies and the community.
He stated that these programs contribute significantly to the overall safety, security, and happiness of the community.
Major General Saeed Hamad bin Suleiman highlighted the strategic intent behind the Rescue Heroes Challenge, revealing that it aligns with the directives of the Commander-in-Chief to create a dedicated platform for school students to compete in rescue operations.
He stressed the positive impact such competitions have on participants, providing them with a chance to showcase their skills and unleash their creativity.
The challenge featured a diverse array of activities, including rappelling, knot-tying challenges, container climbing, rope pulling, doll transportation using ropes, rappelling operations, lifting heavy objects with inflatable cushions, navigating through mazes, and a car-pulling challenge utilizing a pulley system.
Participants expressed their gratitude to the Dubai Police for organizing an event that not only sharpens their rescue skills but also offers valuable insights into the intricate workings of Dubai Police’s rescue teams and their adept management of various incidents.
The ‘Rescue Heroes Challenge’ stands as a testament to Dubai Police’s unwavering commitment to its societal role, providing purposeful events that contribute to the creation of a healthy, social, sporting, and cultural environment.
