Lagos, Nigeria — In a significant development, the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS) conducted a successful operation on the Gbagada-Oshodi Expressway, leading to the arrest of a hard drug vendor and his supplier.
On Wednesday, October 18, RRS operatives apprehended Victor Aghalise, a 27-year-old individual, while he was allegedly peddling a substance suspected to be Arizona to motorists.
The revelation came to light through an official post on the RRS’s social media account the following day.
The police discovered a substantial quantity of Arizona, specifically 93 wraps, in Aghalise’s possession during the arrest.
The severity of the situation prompted further investigations, which eventually led to the apprehension of Ifeanyi Erem, a 60-year-old man.
Erem admitted to supplying the substance to Aghalise, who subsequently distributed it to customers around the Ilupeju area of the Gbagada-Oshodi Expressway.
In Erem’s possession, law enforcement officers also discovered seven wraps of Arizona.
Both suspects are now in custody and are expected to face legal action for their involvement in the illegal drug trade.
CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, the Commander of the RRS, has directed that the arrested individuals be swiftly charged in court.
He further issued a stern warning to hard drug peddlers and motorists engaging with them, emphasising that the full extent of the law would be applied to prosecute anyone caught in such illegal activities within the state.
This successful operation by the Lagos State RRS demonstrates the authorities’ commitment to combating drug-related crimes and ensuring the safety and security of the public on the Gbagada-Oshodi Expressway.
The incident underscores the necessity for ongoing vigilance and strong law enforcement efforts to curtail the spread of illegal substances and their associated risks to society.
