Nigerian athlete, Tobi Amusan, has been provisionally suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) following allegations of missing drug tests.
This comes after previous reports about her involvement in a doping violation.
Amusan, in response to the suspension, maintains her innocence.
The AIU, the regulatory body, officially announced the suspension on their Twitter account.
According to their statement, Amusan has been charged and provisionally suspended for 3 Whereabouts Failures.
“The case will be heard by the Disciplinary Tribunal and determined before the World Athletics Championships,” the statement reads.
Under a provisional suspension, an athlete is temporarily barred from participating in any athletic competitions or activities while awaiting a final decision.
This decision will be reached through a hearing conducted under the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules or the Integrity Code of Conduct.
Tobi Amusan’s recent achievements in securing back-to-back Diamond League wins and a Meeting Record in Silesia have been remarkable.
