In a distressing incident that unfolded on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at approximately 8:30 PM, a young man under the influence of drugs took the life of his neighbour in the Abule-Egba area of Lagos State.
The unfortunate event occurred at 7, Odekeye Close off PupoIsola, Abule-Egba, Lagos State.
According to reports, Akeem Agbolagade, while stepping outside his residence to inspect the fuel level of his generator, unexpectedly encountered Dave, another resident of the building, who was charging towards him with a lethal intention.
Eyewitnesses reported that Dave’s actions were allegedly driven by his drug-induced state.
“Akeem, sensing the imminent danger, instinctively fled for his safety. However, Dave relentlessly pursued him, ultimately catching up to him,” reports unveiled.
It was disclosed that Akeem, in a desperate attempt to escape, stumbled and fell, leaving himself vulnerable to Dave’s repeated stabbings.
The commotion drew the attention of concerned neighbours, who rushed to the scene.
They promptly conveyed the gravely injured Akeem to the nearest hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries during transit.
Authorities swiftly intervened, transporting the deceased’s body in an ambulance to the closest police station.
The perpetrator of this heinous act was apprehended at the scene by the police and subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Panti Yaba for further investigation.
Regrettably, Akeem leaves behind a grieving wife and four children, whose lives have been irreversibly altered by this senseless act of violence.
