Festus Keyamo, a prominent legal practitioner and human rights activist, has urged Nigerians to exercise caution in their comments concerning Ejikeme Mmesoma.
Keyamo made this appeal following the conclusion of an investigation into the case involving Mmesoma Ejikeme.
“I deliberately waited until the completion of this investigation before making any comments on the unfortunate situation surrounding Mmesoma Ejikeme, our young daughter,” Keyamo stated.
He further added, “Mmesoma is an intelligent girl, as evidenced by her actual score of 249. We must be cautious not to destroy her. What she truly requires is counseling, guidance, and correction. It is evident that she did not fully comprehend the weight and gravity of her actions. As teenagers, many of us made juvenile mistakes that remained undisclosed.”
Keyamo emphasized the importance of encouraging Mmesoma to publicly apologize to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), her family, and Nigerians.
He suggested that she should then be granted admission based on her actual scores.
“Anyone who continues to propagate alternative narratives regarding this matter is not aiding Mmesoma or her family. It is time to bring this unfortunate chapter to a close and move forward. This is my plea,” Keyamo concluded.
Confession of Falsified Results
Mmesoma Ejikeme, the embattled candidate from Anambra, has finally confessed to a panel of independent investigators established by the Anambra State Government that she forged her results in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
In a report released in Abuja by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the spokesperson for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, it was revealed that Mmesoma provided no justification for her forgery during her interaction with the panel.
“In her statement, Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma admitted, in the presence of her principal and the Education Secretary, that the account provided by JAMB officials accurately described what took place. She also confessed that she manipulated her results by herself, without any assistance, using her Arte1 phone number.
“She stated that she then proceeded to Prisca Global Computers in Uruagu, Nnewi, where she printed the manipulated results. The committee attempted to ascertain her motive, but Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma remained silent.
“The Principal of Anglican Girls’ Secondary School, Uruagu Nnewi, and the Education Secretary of the Diocese of Nnewi (Anglican Communion) expressed their shock at the revelations. They confirmed that Mmesoma admitted to manipulating her UTME results, deceiving the school, her immediate family, and the state government.”
