In the Okotomi area of Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government, a three-storey building under construction has collapsed.
According to reports from Channel TV, the incident occurred at around 6 pm on Friday, and fortunately, no casualties have been reported at the time of this report.
This unfortunate event adds to the growing number of building collapses happening across the country.
Just a few days ago, on Monday, a five-storey building that was also under construction collapsed in the Lifecamp area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
Thanks to the prompt response from emergency responders, including officials from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), at least nine individuals who were trapped in the Abuja collapsed building were rescued.
Furthermore, on June 29, another building under construction, this time a single storey, collapsed in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area in Rivers State, resulting in injuries to four individuals.
In response to this incident, the Rivers State Government has made a commitment to hold accountable all those whose actions contributed to the building’s collapse.
