A Delta state-based activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, sensitised the public, especially parents to a trending cult initiation sign in secondary schools.
According to the activist, the cult initiation process in some secondary schools is known as the ‘snake bite’.
Sharing a video of the mark on the hands of some of the students paraded via his Facebook page on Wednesday May 24, 2023, he urged parents to check their child if he or she has the mark.

“It is happening in schools. This is happening already in some secondary schools in Asaba, Delta State. As we conclude findings, we will drop the video on the initiation process,” he said.
While explaining how children get initiated into the cult in a video, Gwamnishu explained that not less that 61 students between the ages of 8 and 12 have been initiated.
“If you join and you are initiated, you will have to go and initiate someone else. They will be given instructions to report anybody who insult them. After that, they will send people to go and beat the person,” he said.
He explained further that “A forty-year-old teacher was almost beaten by the students in Asaba.”
“Currently at the Ministry of Education, Asaba will be involved to help curb the trend,” he concluded.
