The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lost one of its members-elect for Jalingo, Yorro, Zing constituency in Taraba State, Ismaila Yushau Maihanchi.
According to a report, Maihanchi died in the early hours of Saturday in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
Confirming the report, the spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Andeta’rang Irammae, said “Shortly after the election, the member-elect fell sick and has been receiving medical treatment in Abuja.”
Describing his death as a rude shock to his party, he said the deceased will be missed not only by the party but the people of the state at large.
Also speaking, the Acting chairman of the party, Abubakar Bawa described the death as a big blow to the PDP family in the state and the country at large.
A family source also confirmed that the late member-elect took to illness shortly after he was declared winner of the just concluded election.
The family source said the funeral arrangements would be announced later.
The member-elect who contested the National Assembly election on the platform of the PDP, defeated his opponents from the All Progressives Congress, APC, the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP and the Social Democratic Party, SDP, by a landslide.
