Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped three schoolchildren in Lagos State.
According to The Nation the children who are said to be siblings were returning from school on Thursday when the incident happened.
The children identified as Oluwatomisin, 15, Oluwadarasimi, 11, and eight-year-old Modesire, were said to have been abducted by gunmen while they were returning from their school at Ikeja, according to The Nation.
Details of the reported kidnap were sketchy with the abductors yet to make demands.
It was gathered that the kidnappers contacted the children’s mother and told her they were in their custody but gave no condition for their release.
The Nation gathered that the parents reported the incident yesterday at Area G Police Command, Ogba.
The distraught mother who spoke to a reporter said: “I was expecting my daughters after the closing hours on Thursday but didn’t see them when they were supposed to be home, only to receive a call from unknown person telling me that my daughters have been abducted.
“I was trying to make further enquiry about their whereabouts and the reason for abducting them but the person just cut the call and has not called back since Thursday. “I could not call back because he hid the number to call me. He let me hear the voice of my children to be ascertained that they were in their captivity.
“The whole family has been in great fear and panic since last week especially when we are yet to hear from the abductors. “We have not heard the voice of our children since last week. We don’t know where they are. We don’t know what they eat, we don’t know what they are doing for or with them.
“I don’t know why my children, three children were abducted. This is so terrible. We are appealing to anyone with useful information about their whereabouts to please contact the nearest police station or law enforcement officers.
But Lagos police spokesman SP Benjamin Hundeyin said he was not aware of the incident.
He said he had contacted all the divisions at and around Ikeja but none confirmed such incident happened within their jurisdiction.
