Governor Yahaya restores water supply in Gombe

In a rapid response to the recent water supply crisis affecting Gombe Metropolis and surrounding areas, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, alongside key officials, visited the Dadinkowa treatment plant today to oversee emergency repairs and reassure residents.

The disruption in water supply, triggered by a windstorm that caused electrical faults at the treatment plant, prompted a vigorous effort by a team of engineers and officials. Their efforts initially restored electricity to the plant, allowing for the production of millions of liters of water which began pumping earlier today, before a temporary setback occurred.

Commissioner of Water Resources, Dr. Aminu Umar Yuguda, confirmed that all necessary repairs have been completed, with water now flowing from the Dadinkowa treatment plant to both lower and upper zones of Gombe for distribution.

AG Yuguda stressed the importance of implementing interim measures to prevent future disruptions, echoing the Governor’s directive to expedite the full operationalisation of the Malam Inna and Wuro Juli water projects to safeguard against similar crises.

Acknowledging the tireless efforts of Commissioner Mohammed Saidu Mohammed Fawu and the combined team, Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed gratitude to the people of Gombe for their patience, solidarity, and support during this challenging period.
