RRS arrests driver for stuffing 15 children into car, 4 in boot

In a shocking incident that sparked outrage, a driver was apprehended by Lagos police for dangerously squeezing 15 children into a Volkswagen Passat car, with four of them crammed into the boot.

The alarming scene unfolded on Friday on the Lekki–Ikoyi Link Bridge, prompting concerned citizens to notify authorities.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) were appalled to find the driver, who had been tasked with transporting the children to a beach outing, blatantly disregarding their safety.

Four children were discovered locked inside the car’s boot, while the remaining 11 were wedged uncomfortably together inside the vehicle.

Preliminary investigations uncovered an even more disturbing revelation: earlier that day, one child had reportedly collapsed due to the cramped and hazardous conditions inside the car. Fortunately, the child received medical attention and recovered.

Following the rescue operation, all children were safely returned to their families unharmed.

The reckless driver, however, was promptly taken into custody and is set to face charges in court for his negligent and potentially life-threatening actions.

In response to this harrowing incident, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, expressed appreciation for the vigilance of residents in promptly reporting suspicious activities to law enforcement.

The apprehension of the driver serves as a stark reminder of the importance of prioritizing safety and responsible behavior, particularly when entrusted with the welfare of vulnerable individuals such as children.

The Lagos State Police Command, through its Public Relations Officer SP Benjamin Hundeyin, reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
