In a swift and coordinated effort, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) spearheaded a concerted response to combat a raging fire engulfing GLOBUS SUPERMARKET INWARD APPLE JUNCTION, Festac, today, on the 25th of March, 2024.
The cause of the inferno remains under investigation, shrouding the incident in mystery as emergency crews battle to contain the blaze.
Thankfully, amidst the chaos, no casualties were reported, with all individuals accounted for at the scene. However, one harrowing rescue operation saw emergency responders extract an adult female trapped within the flames. Swiftly ushered into an awaiting ambulance, she was promptly transported to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment, underscoring the decisive actions of the emergency teams on the ground.
Yet, the heroism of the firefighters came at a cost, as one member of the Lagos State Government (LASG) fire brigade collapsed amidst the intense heat and smoke. Demonstrating the resilience of the emergency response network, LASAMBUS promptly attended to the fallen firefighter, facilitating their transfer to a private hospital at Apple junction, where they presently receive medical attention.
Despite the valiant efforts of the emergency crews, the fire continues to rage, fueled by the presence of highly flammable materials within the store.
The situation remains precarious as responders confront escalating flames, intensifying the battle to bring the inferno under control.
A united front of emergency services has converged at the scene, with LASEMA’s Rapid Response Team (LRT) working in tandem with Lagos Response Unit (LRU) firefighters, the Lagos State Fire Service, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC), Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF). Together, they stand shoulder to shoulder, determined to quench the flames and safeguard lives and property.
As operations persist, the collective resolve of the emergency responders remains unwavering, echoing a commitment to public safety and resilience in the face of adversity.
The battle against the Festac fire outbreak continues, with all available resources marshaled in a relentless pursuit to restore calm and security to the affected community.
