The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested Nnandi Agu for orchestrating an elaborate hoax – faking his own kidnapping with the sinister motive of defrauding his unsuspecting brother residing in River Park Estate.
The arrest, confirmed in an official statement released on Saturday, debunked the initial report of a kidnapping incident at River Park Estate, terming it as a mere fabrication.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, highlighted the gravity of the situation, branding the report of Agu’s abduction as “fake news.”
Adeh stated, “The FCT Police Command is aware of the news making rounds about an alleged kidnapping incident at River Park Estate in the early hours of today (yesterday) and wishes to state that contrary to reports, nobody was kidnapped in River Park Estate.”
The statement further revealed that Agu, a resident of Games Village, went to great lengths to stage his own kidnapping, all with the intention of duping his brother within the same estate.
The motive behind such a devious plan remains under investigation.
Currently held in police custody, Nnandi Agu is undergoing intense interrogation as law enforcement seeks to unravel the depths of his deceptive scheme.
The police assured the public that as the investigation progresses, additional developments will be communicated promptly.
This bizarre incident serves as a stark reminder of the lengths some individuals might go to perpetrate fraud, even at the cost of concocting fake kidnappings.
