Chioma demands a thorough investigation and accountability in the pursuit of justice.
Chioma narrates:
“Here is my cousin, Chibike Ugwu, who began serving his apprenticeship at a young age in Mushin, Lagos State.
“He is currently approaching the time for settlement as per the agreement his parents made with his master, Margret Osakwe. However, in a concerning turn of events, Margret has fabricated a false accusation against my cousin, alleging that he stole her money. Shockingly, she resorted to inviting unidentified military personnel, a clear violation of human rights, to handle the situation.
“If my brother were guilty, the appropriate course of action would have been involving the police to conduct a thorough investigation. Unfortunately, she opted to take matters into her own hands, employing nameless military individuals to subject my young cousin to near-fatal torture. Disturbingly, it appears that she repeatedly uses baseless allegations whenever those serving her seek their freedom, making it difficult for them to settle.
“Currently, my little brother is hospitalized and in critical condition. I have advised his mother to report the case to the police, which she has already done.
“I am preparing to travel to Lagos to obtain information about the military individuals responsible for the severe treatment of my cousin.
“It is important to note that Margret Osakwe, the master, has left the country. However, her husband remains in Lagos, and I am providing his contact number (08034064003). I kindly request your assistance in contacting him and urging his intervention to persuade Margret to return and address the serious allegations against my cousin.
“We seek a fair and transparent investigation to uncover the truth and ensure justice prevails.
“We call on the chairman of Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA and the DPO of Olosan Police Station to help us investigate the matter and seek justice.”
In a phone call (the mother’s line 09126275777) to The Naija News.org, Ugwu’s mother conveyed that her son is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
She mentioned, “Yes, my son is currently with me, but he is unable to speak. He is presently receiving intravenous therapy.”
Effort to reach the accused master proved futile as it was reported that she is currently abroad.
